About Me

Hi!

2015-11-26

I’m Jen! I’m a former copywriter and editor. These days, I write about the things that matter to me, when the mood strikes. This started as a blog about my knitting and my kids, and evolved into a cathartic place where I could put together all the little pieces of ideas that float around in my head and seem like they might be something significant. When enough of those build up, it usually feels like it’s time to write.

I write about my life. To quote Flannery O’Connor, “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.” I write to process my deepest emotions and to get my most complicated thoughts out of my head so I can sort through them. If any of them are worthwhile or interesting, then I’m glad. Enjoy!

As for who I am, I’m a wife and mom. I’m an adventurous cook, an avid reader, a seamstress and knitter, and a wielder of power tools. I’m a runner and heavy lifter. I love ballet and yoga, opera and indie, the Pacific Coast, and really really long baths.

Why “Feffer?” It’s how my niece used to pronounce Jennifer. Funny kid. 🙂

  1. I love reading these. We have so. much. in common. Besides the same blood type, we also both were Nat’l Merit Scholars who tanked our first year in college, active in spelling bees, majored in English, sing and play piano. YAY US. 🙂

  2. I loved your story about the chest and your great great grandpa Tolman. My name is Tom Tolman and I’d like to know what Tolman line you come from. Please drop me a note. Thanks, Tom

  3. I have a special needs daughter and I love your idea of the pediasure recipe! I am confused on the amount of iron I should add though. For one child with this being her only source of nutrition, should I make the full recipe you have given with only 1ml of poly vi sol or two?
